2020 First Semester, School of Management, Tokyo University of Science

LINK
Descriptions

In this course, students will learn how to analyze spatial data. Spatial data is data that contains location information in geospatial coordinates. In recent years, the use of spatial data has been increasing not only in academic research but also in policy making, marketing, etc. Through this course, students will acquire the specialized knowledge required for spatial data analysis from both theoretical and empirical perspectives to solve problems proactively. The theoretical part of the course aims to provide students with a correct understanding of the characteristics of spatial data and the methods of quantitative analysis using spatial data, while the empirical part of the course aims to enable students to learn how to manipulate QGIS, R, and RStudio for spatial data analysis. In addition, the course aims to help students acquire basic skills in data collection, data preprocessing, data analysis, and report writing, which are required in data science.
